VRM Lookup
A VRM lookup retrieves a vehicle's details — make, model, specification, MOT and tax status — automatically from its registration number (VRM), instead of being typed in manually.
Typing a registration plate into a VRM lookup pulls back a vehicle's make, model, year, engine, and often its MOT and tax history, saving a counter clerk or service advisor from typing in details that are already on record elsewhere.
Where it saves time
- Booking in a vehicle for service without manually entering its specification
- Pre-filling a vehicle appraisal or part-exchange valuation
- Catching basic errors, like booking the wrong vehicle in for the wrong job, before they happen
What to check
Some VRM lookups only return basic specification; others also surface MOT history, outstanding finance, or write-off status. Whether that matters depends on whether you need it for appraisal and compliance, or just for speeding up data entry.
